Diapers will play a big role in our life once our baby is born.
During the newborn stage you’ll probably change 8-10 diapers a day, that would slow down as your baby gets older. Unfortunately, not all diapers are safe and made the same. It is important to check into the materials used in every product we will use to our child. Diapers come in direct contact with our baby for prolonged periods of time.
Sad to say many disposable diapers contain toxic and harm chemicals which have been linked to asthma, developmental delays and even cancer. Thankfully, there are some safer alternatives including Chlorine free diapers, non-toxic diapers and organic cloth diapers. Cloth diapers are not for me, it is messy, and they can lead to more diaper rash (or more severe cases) because they don’t absorb moisture the way disposables do. And you can’t use most diaper rash creams and ointments with cloth diapers, either. Plus, I don’t want to do more laundry, that means higher water and electricity bills.
Did you know that disposable diapers are traditionally made with using wood pulp that was bleached with elemental chlorine? This process is toxic and results in a byproduct called dioxins. Dioxins are a class of highly toxic chemicals that accumulate in your body and can wreak havoc on the immune system. It is also known as cause of allergic reaction and skin irritations.
I am happy to share with you the Diaper Brand that I trusted the most when it comes to Disposable Diaper.
What is Applecrumby Chlorine Free Diapers?
A brand from Malaysia established October 2012 when the founders are looking for products that safe, natural and organic for their own daughter. Good news is Applecrumby is expanding and getting bigger, now available here in the Philippines.
Material: Elemental Chlorine Free Processing Wood Pulp (USA), Absorbent Bio-Care (Japan) Plant-based PLA (Inner and Outer Layers), Safe Adhesives (Seams and Joints), Ink (Made without Lead and heavy metals in printed back sheet), Polypropylene (Core Wrap, Cuff, Moisture Barrier Layer), Spandex (Elastic Waist Band, Cuff)
Cruelty Free: which means not tested on animals and no animal by-products.
I tried a few other brands of diapers, but none even came close to Applecrumby in comfort, fit and materials used on it. I am surprised with the absorbent because it is silky and soft even with a full overnight diaper my daughter is still dry thanks to the absorbency and breathability. This is also one of the reasons we hardly ever get redness or diaper rashes – your baby’s bottom will stay dry with these diapers.
Prevents the formation of dioxins and dioxins-like compounds, carcinogens.
Which prevent from exposure to petroleum based dyes that cause cancer.
Prevents Leakage and Blows Outs
easy to take-off
Like Latex, Lotion and Fragrance to avoid skin Irritations.
NOTE: Although they market themselves as chlorine-free, Applecrumby diaper is NOT Total Chlorine Free but great news! the upcoming batches will be Total Chlorine Free (TCF) which is BETTER THAN BEFORE. On the other hand, I can say with confidence that they are still high-quality diapers and my daughter have not had any issues with them.
Is the price worth?
Buying non-toxic disposable diapers is definitely an investment in your baby’s health. At the same time, diaper deals on mainstream brands like other brands available anywhere are making it really tempting to forgo your commitment to only using eco-friendly diapers.
Investing in non-toxic diapers is one of the most important decisions you make for your baby. Chlorine free diapers can run you anywhere from thirty to sixty per diaper, but your baby’s health is worth it. Isn’t it better to have peace of mind to know you’re using safer, chlorine-free diapers for your little one?
